Getting Here

We're at the bottom left corner of Anglesey, at the end of the A4080. Getting here is easy enough. Knowing a few local quirks makes it easier.

By car

  • Cross the Britannia Bridge, stay on the A55 towards Holyhead and come off at Junction 5 (signed Rhosneigr, Aberffraw, A4080). From there it's about three miles through Llanfaelog.
  • From Liverpool John Lennon or Manchester Airport, it's a straightforward drive along the A55.

Parking

  • The council car park is at the Library, LL64 5UX. It's pay-and-display, with tariffs by length of stay and a separate rate for a vehicle with a trailer.
  • It's listed as a seasonal car park, so check the tariff board when you arrive for the charges and the charging times and months.
  • Pay with coins or with PayByPhone (802923 for cars, 802932 for trailers). Blue Badge holders park free in the disabled bays, and there are EV charging points.
  • On a sunny summer weekend it fills up fast, so come early. Stick to proper spaces, because the lanes are narrow and the High Street gets jammed.

By train

  • Rhosneigr station (RHO) is on the North Wales Coast Line, and Transport for Wales runs every train.
  • Trains run through the day in both directions. There are direct trains to Holyhead, Chester, Crewe, Manchester Airport, Cardiff and (on some trains) Birmingham International. Check Transport for Wales for current times.
  • From London Euston there are no direct trains. Expect one change.
  • It's a request stop. To get off, tell the conductor in good time. To get on, give the driver a clear hand signal as the train comes in. There's no ticket office or machine, so buy online or on board.
  • Access: each platform has its own narrow lane and gate off Station Road, but the paths are steep and unsurfaced. You can't cross between the platforms under the bridge because there's no pavement. If you need Passenger Assist, book it ahead.
  • The station sits at the Llanfaelog end of the village, about 1.8 km on foot from the clock tower. There's no taxi rank, so pre-book a taxi.

By bus

Gwynfor Coaches runs both routes. Both take contactless, and neither runs on Sundays. Check Gwynfor Coaches for current times.

  • 25, Holyhead to Aberffraw (Monday to Saturday), via Valley, the station and the clock tower. It runs a few times a day. It's also how we do the Aberffraw walk one way and bus back.
  • 45, Rhosneigr to Llangefni: a few return trips on weekdays and a couple on Saturday mornings.

By coach

  • National Express goes to Bangor and Holyhead. From either one, carry on by train.
  • From 25 October 2026, Transport for Wales's new TaithCymru coach runs several times a day between Carmarthen and Bangor, via Aberystwyth. One late-night journey carries on to Holyhead station and port. Tickets are advance booking only.

By ferry from Ireland

  • Stena Line and Irish Ferries sail between Dublin and Holyhead, and Irish Ferries also runs the Dublin Swift fast ferry.
  • Since 28 September 2026, ferry passengers need a valid passport (or an Irish passport card). A driving licence is no longer accepted.
  • From Holyhead, Rhosneigr is the next stop after Valley on the train, or you can take the 25 bus.

By air

  • Forget Anglesey Airport. The Cardiff flights never came back after 2020, and the civilian airport closed for good in 2023. The jets you'll hear over the village belong to RAF Valley next door.
  • Your nearest airports are Liverpool and Manchester. From Manchester Airport, trains run right through to Rhosneigr.

Does Rhosneigr have a train station?
Yes. National Rail lists Rhosneigr station (RHO) at Station Road, Rhosneigr, Anglesey LL64 5QZ. Transport for Wales manages the station. It is also a request stop. See the separate FAQ below for how to board and alight.
Can I get to Rhosneigr from Dublin by ferry?

Is Rhosneigr a request stop on the railway?
Yes. National Rail lists Rhosneigr as a request stop, where some or all trains only call on request. To alight, tell the conductor in advance. To board, give a clear hand signal to the driver as the train approaches. Transport for Wales manages the station and lists it as unstaffed, with assistance provided by the conductor on the train.
